Thank you. I’d love to get involved in climate activism but so much of it – even just going a march – sets all my HSP alarm bells off. I’m in awe of the climate activists in the U.K. who are currently blocking motorways etc and physically protesting against carbon emissions and reliance on oil/fossil fuels but the hate and aggression they encounter from the press and government/powerful corporations feels too much for me to tolerate
Thank you so much for sharing Emmie. I really appreciate hearing about your engagement and commitment to the climate crisis. We need as many HSPs as possible to be involved in climate but I agree that it's certainly not for everyone to go on marches or get arrested. However, there are many ways to engage in your own way and it will be great to continue these discussions as this community grows and develops. There is so much wisdom amongst this growing readership of HSPs, that I'm sure we could generate many interesting ideas and solutions between us.
I've often been accused of being too sensible, too serious whereas I feel its because I feel so much so deeply that many things seem too shallow. So many people are caught up in things that are not really important just because other members of society feel they should conform. One of the things us HSP's find hard is to fit in - maybe not fitting in is a good thing, staying true to our values and encouraging others to think and talk about the deeper things is a good thing and nothing to be ashamed of. Someone close to me said the other day, have you noticed how your conversations get really deep, really quickly? - as if it was a bad thing - I'm fed up with superficial conversations - lets get serious!!
Thank you Sue and I'm so happy you have shared this, because you have touched on some of the key challenges for many HSPs. I agree that not always conforming and following the status quo is actually a good thing and I do truly believe that HSPs possess many of the qualities which are so needed on the planet right now. There are many others like you who wish to have these deep, rich conversations and my intention is to continue building this community to bring similar minded people together.
Thank you for this. I have felt isolated as an HSP and never found my "tribe". However, I know I have a lot to offer. As a community of HSPs, we could be a powerful force for change, whether local or global, if we could come together to share our strengths.
Yes, like you Julia, so many HSPs have felt isolated and my intention behind creating "The HSP Revolution", was as a way to bring likeminded types together because we are so much more powerful in community.
There are already so many people here reading this newsletter who have so much to offer and collectively we have so much depth of thought and feeling, empathy, intuition, creativity and rich ideas and solutions.
I am currently working on an HSP membership community for the autumn so that those who are drawn to this newsletter can come together to support one another to let go of the cultural conditioning that left us feeling so misunderstood and alone, to develop new practices, tools and resources to help us set healthy boundaries, stop people pleasing and clear blocks so that we can show up fully, sharing our gifts of creativity, empathy and intuition with ourselves, our families, our communities and the planet. .
This year has been a real eye-opener with wildfires across the world; even last night on my doorstep I rode my motorcycle across acres of scorched grassland the habitat of the Great Bustard. The fires chocked out the nearby towns with plumes of smoke. As a gardener the story I tell myself is that I’m resilient and can stand both the heat and the cold, but I’m actually in denial, I’m really struggling with the recent temperatures! As I write this there are large rumbles of thunder overhead this will be the first rain in 6-8 weeks, I think I going to stand outside ha!
Thanks
It’s refreshing to be understood!
Sue

Thank you Dr Genevieve,

Brilliant writing on the climate issue - thank you
Thank you Jo! It's so great to have you here.
