The Book I'd (Unknowingly) Been Waiting For
Why I've been so gripped by Danielle LaPorte's profound take on self-compassion.
I’d love to welcome you to The HSP Revolution membership community, now open on the Mighty Networks platform. It’s a warm, supportive haven for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) seeking a greater sense of community, connection and empowerment. I’m hosting two live workshops per month, posting daily inspiration and livestreams, and sharing a lot more besides.
Access to this weekly newsletter is now reserved primarily for community members. I will continue to send one complete edition of this newsletter per month free to all existing subscribers. To continue reading the whole newsletter each week, please do join me in the membership community. Thank you!
“Your heart is immense. You’ve got space for everything.” — How To Be Loving, Danielle LaPorte.
When I first heard about Danielle LaPorte’s new book, I was sceptical.
I’m not a fan of fluffy New Age writing, and I’ve read so much of the contents of the self-help shelves of my local bookshop that I can get a little jaded.
But something about How To Be Loving has touched me far more deeply than I’d have anticipated since I received a copy for Christmas. And so many elements of what I’ve learned on my own journey have seemed to fall into place in rewarding new ways.
I’ve now read the book twice — and immersed myself in multiple interviews with Danielle. I have a deep sense that she’s speaking from her experience — not about it. It’s this energy of embodied wisdom that gives her book its power.
Though the themes advertised on the jacket — self-compassion; higher guidance; healing; forgiveness — might sound like standard self-help fare, I think Danielle has managed to capture some very profound teachings in an accessible way. I wanted to share a flavour of the book in the hope that you might feel called to explore. (And though Danielle appears to be writing with a primarily female audience in mind, I know that HSP men could get a lot out of this book too).
