Calling all Highly Sensitive People
Let's support each other to trust our intuition and step into our power
It’s a tough time to be on the planet — especially for Highly Sensitive People who feel and absorb everything so deeply. We need a place where we can come together as a community and support each other to own our gifts, connect with others, and bring our superpowers to bear on the challenges we face. Welcome to The HSP Revolution.
My name is Dr Genevieve, and I’m a clinical psychologist and intuitive energy coach who specializes in helping HSPs find out who they really are. I learned about HSPs through the ground-breaking work of Dr Elaine Aron, and I’m listed on her website as an HSP-knowledgeable therapist. When I was in my 20s, discovering that I was an HSP was truly a revelation, and has shaped my work ever since.
After 20 years of clinical practice, I can honestly say that nothing gives me greater joy than helping an HSP client learn to trust their inner voice, cut through their self-doubt and show up as their authentic self. I created this newsletter to support HSPs in that journey, and provide a place for us to discuss topics like:
Managing your energy, getting grounded, and staying calm
Empathic leadership
Finding the right career
Overcoming perfectionism and procrastination
Dealing with narcissism: mothers, friends, colleagues and partners
Moving from people pleasing to setting healthy boundaries
Trusting your intuition and expanding your consciousness
Healing trauma
Expressing creativity
Intimacy, dating and relationships
Living more magically by harnessing synchronicity and flow
Parenting the new generation of Highly Sensitive Children
The challenges we face as a species — from COVID-19 and the climate crisis to political polarization, inequality, injustice and spiraling levels of mental distress — can feel overwhelming. And in our personal lives, it seems that everyone’s going through something right now: in our relationships and families, as parents, via health issues, or problems at work. Our minds are in overdrive, and our nervous systems are wired. As Highly Sensitive People, it can all seem like too much.
At the same time, we are needed right now. We have enormous gifts. We have an ability to read situations and people with laser-like clarity — and see things that most people can’t. We have an amazing ability to connect with others, turning us into born counsellors. And we have incredible powers of intuition — provided we can learn to quieten our minds enough to hear what our inner voice is telling us.
But modern culture hasn’t been kind to HSPs. All too often, parents and teachers haven’t known how to cope with our sensitivity — and our gifts have been stigmatized. We’ve learned to shut down to fit in. We’ve felt like we have to overcome our sensitivity — instead of seeing it as the source of our wisdom. So often, we have felt alone or misunderstand — like outsiders looking in. We’ve lost touch with our intuition because we live in a society that prizes logical analysis, competition and striving over creativity, empathy and emotional intelligence.
Let’s take our power back. I work with so many HSPs who wonder where they can connect with other people like them, and I see HSP Revolution as a focal point for a nurturing, global community. Let’s support each other on a journey of healing, self-empowerment, expanded consciousness and finding new ways to impact the world.
I intend to publish short updates weekly for the next six months. This is something of an experiment: I’ve never written a newsletter before, and I don’t know exactly how this journey is going to play out. (The first six months will be all free content — though if I find myself dedicating more time, I may create paid premium content in future). What I can say for sure is that more people than ever before are reaching out to understand their sensitivity better. I hope this community will be a haven where we can finally feel seen and understood.
So, please join us as we come together and raise the flag of The HSP Revolution!
I'm thinking the support from this community could be invaluable to so many of us. I've recently turned 50 & I'm exhausted from seemingly spending a lifetime trying to fit in with people. I sometimes think that the fitting in is really being compliant with others wishes, leaving me feeling totally drained of energy & emotion.
Thank you so much Genevieve for creating this space and inviting me to this community :) I was so lucky to meet you and I really enjoyed our sessions, you have been great and very helpful and understanding in a very sensible way. Looking forward to your newsletters :)))
