A Conversation with Josh Connolly
Podcast out today on Reclaiming Sensitivity: The Truth About HSPs, Kids, and Healing.
Welcome to my newsletter building a supportive community for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs).
It has taken years of healing to do be able to feel confident enough to speak on camera in a podcast studio, so I’m proud to share this conversation with you, out today. I joined Josh Connolly for his Dysfunctional podcast to talk about high sensitivity—what it really means, why it matters, and why it’s so often misunderstood. The episode is titled “Reclaiming Sensitivity: The Truth About HSPs, Kids, and Healing.”

What I really appreciate about Josh is how real he is and straight to the point — which is very refreshing. Josh identifies as a highly sensitive person (HSP) himself and is, I believe, a powerful role model for highly sensitive men. He admits he doesn’t fit the stereotypical image people might have of sensitivity, and that’s exactly why his voice is so needed.
We began by talking about how the term “high sensitivity” can feel like it’s disappearing from mainstream conversations and how I came to discover it myself.
From there, we went on to cover a range of topics including:
🔹 What it means to be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) in a fast-paced, disconnected world
🔹 Why sensitivity isn’t a flaw, it’s biology
🔹 Pathologisation of sensitivity in the western world of sensitivity, and why labels need to be held lightly
🔹 What happens when sensitive kids grow up in disconnected homes
🔹 Why HSPs are often targets of bullying, and how we can reframe that experience
🔹 The importance of community in healing
🔹 How healing begins when we finally start trusting what we feel
I'm so grateful to have had this conversation with Josh and even more grateful for the way he’s raising awareness and empowering sensitive people everywhere, especially children.
My biggest hope is that this episode brings more understanding, validation, and empowerment to those who need it most.
